  • THE SENAWAVE PROCESS

The Team at Senawave is proud to share the fiber installation process for our upcoming fiber construction projects throughout your community.

As construction commences, you’ll see a Senawave presence near your home as the fiber installation process ramps up. Our teams are future proofing neighborhoods across Cottonwood Heights with the introduction of the Senawave all-fiber network. We work diligently to ensure each step is completed to the best of the team’s ability. The Senawave crews will be working within the city right-of-way, public utility easements and private property to ensure the new Senawave fiber infrastructure is available to as many residents as possible while being installed with a safety-first mentality.

Look for the initial infrastructure installation process to take a week or less in front of a specific address, with the final steps taking another two to three days roughly 60 days later. When the final step is complete, your area will be fiber ready and shortly thereafter the Senawave Team can begin connecting homes to the newly installed fiber network and offering the best Internet in the Valley.

A more detailed description of the construction process and what to expect is below. For further questions about Senawave and the forthcoming processes, please reach out to the Senawave Public Relations Team via email at Info@Senawave.com

  • PRE-CONSTRUCTION NOTIFICATION

Prior to construction beginning in a designated area, a member of The SenawaveTeam will visit each residence to share detailed information about each process of the upcoming fiber project and answer any questions residents may have. At locations where residents are not home our notification team will leave a door hanger that includes contact information, a link to our website to sign up for service, learn more about the fiber project and our processes to bring fiber connectivity home to your neighborhood.

  • BLUE STAKES

Prior to the start of construction all underground utilities will need to be marked and located to ensure the safety of all residents and construction crews. Senawave will request that Blue Stakes visit the area to locate and mark ALL existing public utilities. This helps prevent underground damage that would result in service interruptions. If you have private utilities, reach out via email info@senawave.com or phone (801) 217-9000  to let our team know. Residents will see flags, spray painted lines and markings on streets, sidewalks, lawns and parking strips.

  • CONSTRUCTION BEGINS FOR UNDERGROUND WORK

When all utilities are marked the Senawave teams and contractors will begin visually confirming the location of the utilities with a process called “pot holing”. The teams dig small holes to confirm the location of utilities along the predetermined conduit path. Now that the utilities are located, the fiber construction begins. Fiber installation specific equipment will be seen placed in strategic locations throughout the neighborhood. Directional drill crews will be operating on corners while pneumatic missile crews will be working as a team with crew members in trucks and trailers loaded with spools of conduit. As the underground installation process proceeds down the street, the teams will safely watch the drill head pass each utility through the potholes they created earlier. When the desired distance is reached, the team will connect the fiber conduit to the end of the drill rod and pull it back, surfacing at each location a vault is planned to be placed. For a few days, the conduit will be seen protruding a few inches above ground at each location a vault will be placed.

  • VAULT INSTALLATION

The goal is to construct a cohesive network that offers a connection to each home. The Senawave teams will generally place one vault (similar to an irrigation box) within the utility easement on each street corner and at the property line for every two homes. From there fiber can be delivered to the best path from the vault to your home.

  • MAINLINE FIBER INSTALLATION AND SPLICING

When the conduit and vaults are placed and ready for use in your neighborhood, the fiber will be “pulled” through the conduit that was previously installed in the ground. As the fiber is being introduced into the conduit you may see it laid out in the utility easement along the street to allow it to be measured and prepared for splicing. This is when the excitement really starts to mount. The Senawave fiber splicing specialists will utilize specialized equipment to mend the fiber strands together, test to ensure light passes the length of the cable and install splice cases for dedicated fiber drops to each home.

  • SENAWAVE FIBER DROP

This is the part the story where we bring a dedicated fiber strand from the vault onto your property and help future proof your home and connectivity. This portion of the process extends out of the PUE (Public Utility Easement). Upon the residents consent, our team will work from the Vault in the PUE with shovels and a manual or pneumatic missile to create a path, then install ¾” conduit. The fiber is then run through the conduit to a small NID (Network Interface Device) mounted on your home where the fiber will terminate.

  • SENAWAVE IN HOME INSTALLATION

When the fiber is live, a Senawave team member will reach out to schedule your home installation where we will connect an ethernet cable to your router inside the residence from the previously installed fiber device on the side of your home. Our team can utilize existing network wiring within your home when available. To optimize the fiber connectivity you may need to upgrade your router. When our technician completes the installation your Senawave Fiber Internet connection you will be online, offering the Best Internet. Since we have to enter your home, we ask that someone over the age of 18 be home for the duration of the appointment.

  • CONTINUED SUPPORT

Senawave is dedicated to providing the highest level of service. This begins with the service that our construction team provides to the connectivity your family will enjoy for years to come. The Senawave team culture takes pride in the quality of work delivered at each property while restoring each property to as close to pre-construction condition as possible.
